TecGuru.eu is an independent, non-commercial blog and educational experiment, run on an amateur basis by Daniel Sedmak. It is hosted entirely within the European Union, and no personal data is transferred outside the EU. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed, how it is used, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Non-commercial and Amateur Nature

TecGuru.eu is operated solely as a personal blog and educational experiment.

  • No commercial activity is conducted through this site.
  • No warranties or guarantees are provided by Daniel Sedmak regarding the content or services of the site.

2. No Cookies

TecGuru.eu does not use cookies for tracking or analytics purposes:

  • WordPress login is restricted to administrators only; regular users cannot log in.
  • Comments are disabled, and no user-generated content is collected.
  • Forms, surveys, or other interactive elements do not collect personal data.

3. Analytics – Matomo

TecGuru.eu uses Matomo analytics under strict privacy settings:

  • Self-hosted within the EU, hosted on IONOS.it
  • IP addresses anonymized (IPv4 addresses anonymized by 2 bytes minimum)
  • Visits enriched only using anonymized IP addresses
  • User IDs replaced with pseudonyms
  • Order IDs anonymized (even though the site is not an e-commerce platform)
  • Tracking enforced without cookies
  • Referrer URLs not recorded, only referrer type detected
  • config_id randomized for enhanced privacy
  • Raw analytics data deleted weekly (every 7 days)
  • Aggregated data deleted every 12 months
  • Scheduled automated deletion of old data weekly

Users can opt out from Matomo tracking at any time using the Opt-Out button in the footer, which is available on every page of the site.

This setup ensures GDPR-compliant statistical analytics without compromising privacy.

4. Hosting

  • Website hosting: OVH Cloud (EU)
  • Analytics hosting: IONOS.it (EU)

Technical data collected by the hosting providers (e.g., server logs, connectivity metadata) is used solely for operational and security purposes. No personal or behavioral data is shared with the providers beyond what is necessary to maintain service and security.

5. Data Collection and Processing

TecGuru.eu does not collect personal data from visitors:

  • No names, emails, full IP addresses, or other personal identifiers are collected.
  • Analytics data collected by Matomo is fully anonymized or pseudonymized and used only for statistical purposes.
  • No third parties have access to raw analytics data.
  • All processing is performed under GDPR principles of data minimization, purpose limitation, and security.

6. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access information about the data processed (Article 15 GDPR)
  • Request deletion or restriction of processing (Articles 16–18 GDPR)
  • Object to processing for statistical purposes (Article 21 GDPR)
  • Withdraw consent where applicable (Article 7 GDPR)

Although consent is not required for cookieless analytics, you can opt out at any time using the Matomo Opt-Out button in the footer.
